Tigers Win GAC Opener 14-3 In Seven Innings

Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - Davis Ward picked up his third win in as many starts behind a Tiger offense that scored 14 runs on 13 hits, as the Ouachita Tigers beat conference foe, East Central, 14-3. The Tigers are 5-3 on the year and 1-0 in Great American Conference play.

The Tigers jumped out to an early 6-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning. Right fielder Keegan Ghidotti got things started with an RBI single to left field. DH Matt Sinclair hit a two-run homer over the wall in left center to make it 3-0. Shortstop Justin Weigel drove in the final two runs of the inning with a double to the gap in righ center. 

The Tigers would get two more runs in the bottom half of the fourth when catcher Chris Tavares would hit a two-run bomb over the wall in left scoring himself and Ghidotti.

In the bottom half of the fifth, the Tigers would score three to make it 11-2. Ouachita scored three again in the bottom of the sixth to make it 14-3. Center fielder Landon Moore doubled scoring Wigel, and Ghidotti drove in his second and third runs of the game with a triple down the left field line.

Ward pitched six innings, allowing three runs on 10 hits. He struck out three and walked none.

For the Tigers, Keegan Ghidotti went 3-4, driving in three and scoring twice. Sinclair and Weigel also drove in three runs each. 

All nine offensive starters for the Tigers scored at least one run in the game. 

Luc Pomales and Garrett Donohoe eached homered for the East Central.

The two teams square off again tomorrow in a doubleheader at Rab Rodgers Field. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 12:00 pm.
