Box Score 2 ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Ouachita Tigers split a doubleheader against the Harding Bisons on Tuesday, losing the first game 5-0 but winning the second 6-5.
In game one, Harding took charge early, scoring four runs in the first two innings. Austin Watson earned the start for the Tigers but was replaced by Jacob May after two innings. May finished the game and gave Ouachita four strong innings, giving up just one run on two hits and striking out two.
The Tigers struggled on offense in the first game, recording only three hits and leaving five runners on base.
Tryce Schalchlin earned the start for Ouachita in the second game but struggled, giving up four runs in two innings. The Bisons were first to score again, putting up three runs in the first inning. The Tigers responded in the top of the second, however, when Lucas Castleberry singled, scoring Jace Melby from third. The Tigers would score five more runs in the inning, including a two-run double by Chris Tavares.
Josh Reeves came in to replace Schalchlin at pitcher in the third inning, and threw for three innings, giving up just one run. Kyle Matusoff then pitched the sixth inning and Keegan Ghidotti finished the game in the seventh. Neither Matusoff nor Ghidotti gave up a hit or a run, and the Tigers grabbed the 6-5 win.
Reeves (2-0) earned the win for the Tigers and Ghidotti got the save (4). Parker Norris, Will Wallace and Castleberry each grabbed two hits, and Tavares finished with two RBI's.
The Tigers (8-4) will travel to Durant, Okla. on Friday, Feb. 21, for a weekend series against Southeastern Oklahoma State.
