ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - Tiger Softball defeated the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff 7-0 on Wednesday in dominating fashion, scoring in every inning except the fourth.
The scoring began when Jocelyn Jones, the first batter of the game for OBU, homered to put the Tigers up 1-0. Ouachita added one run to the score in the second inning off of a pass ball that scored Suzie Gresham.
In the top of the third, the Tigers scored three more runs, which started with an RBI single by Jessica Branam that scored Jones. Later in the inning, Teresa Mursuli hit an RBI single that scored Branam, and Gresham hit an RBI single that scored Kailey Madden.
After a scoreless fourth inning, the Tigers added one run in the fifth after a sac fly by Kate Lacina that scored Jenna Hendry. Hendry earned an RBI in the top of the sixth inning when she walked to score Kayla Golden, which set the score at 7-0.
Abbi Frakes earned the start for OBU and threw for six innings, giving up only two hits and recording five strikeouts. Shelby McWhorter came in relief in the seventh inning and closed out the game.
The Tigers (4-6) will be at home this weekend, as they host Southeastern Oklahoma State for a four-game series. Games start on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
