Lady Tigers Host Lady Muleriders March 1-2.

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Lady Tigers will play in their second conference series of the 2014 season this weekend when they host Southern Arkansas University for a four-game series at Sully Anderson Field beginning Saturday, March 1 at 1:00 PM.

Ouachita is coming off a 2-2 series split with Southeastern Oklahoma State. It was a good showing overall for the Lady Tigers as they were without first baseman and pitcher Macy Nantz. Nantz was leading the team in average, hits, RBI and slugging percentage heading into conference play.

Catcher Kailey Madden was the offensive leader for the Lady Tigers this past weekend, going 7-14 with a double and a homerun. She scored twice and drove in three for the series. Because of her hot bat, she also drew three intentional walks.

On the mound, both starters went 1-1 for the series. Shelby McWhorter threw nine shutout innings on Friday to get the win. On Saturday she took the loss, but only allowed three runs, giving her a weekend ERA of .188. Abbi Frakes lost in her first appearance against Southeastern, but got the complete game win on Saturday to move her overall record to 5-3 on the year. Frakes leads the team and the GAC in strikeouts with 45.

Entering the weekend, the Lady Tigers are hitting .284 as a team. Their opponents are hitting .286. SAU comes in hitting .304, but allowing opponents a healthy .329 average. The SAU team ERA is 6.65. The Lady Tigers are at 4.17.

The series starts with a Saturday doubleheader beginning at 1:00 PM. On Sunday, the teams play another doubleheader beginning at 1:00 PM.
