Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Ouachita Tigers (9-7) opened a weekend series in Magnolia, Arkansas with a 7-2 over the fourth-ranked Muleriders of SAU.
Davis Ward improved his record to 4-0 with a complete game win, striking out 14 batters and only walking one. Leadoff man
Parker Norris went 3-4, scoring four of the Tigers seven runs.
The Tigers gave Ward an early cushion by scoring three runs in the first three innings. DH
Matt Sinclair drove in Norris with a single in the first and on a sacrfice fly in the third.
Jace Melby added an RBI single in the third, scoring
Landon Moore.
The Muleriders answered in the bottom of the third with two runs, but OBU pushed the lead back to three with a two-run top half of the fourth. Norris would again spark the offense with a RBI single and score later in the inning on a
Landon Moore single to left center.
The Tigers would get their final two runs in the top half of the sixth.
Chris Tavares doubled to left center, scoring Norris. Tavares would score on a Matt Sonclair single, giving Sinclair his third RBI of the game.
On the mound, Ward would scatter eight hits over nine innings. Ward recorded at least one strikeout in each inning, including the bootom of the fourth when he struck out the side. The 14 Ks were a season high and Ward notched his third complete game of the season.
The Tigers return to action tomorrow afternoon for a doubleheader against Southern Arkansas in Magnolia. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
