Rangers' Offense Too Powerful for Tigers

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Tiger softball lost two games of a doubleheader 9-0 and 11-1 against the Northwestern Oklahoma State Rangers on Saturday, ending the four-game series with NWOSU winning three games and the Tigers winning two.
 
Game one was an offensive struggle for the Tigers, as they only recorded two hits. Shelby Anderson started at pitcher for the Rangers and threw all seven innings, striking out five. Abbi Frakes started at pitcher for the Tigers and threw for the entire game, striking out five and giving up nine runs, eight of them earned.
 
Jessica Branam and Brianne Baley recorded the two hits for the Tigers, and the Rangers recorded 11 hits as a team to win the game 9-0.
 
Game two seemed to be very similar, as the Rangers rallied throughout the game to score at total of 11 runs. Kellie Mason pitched the complete game for Northwestern, giving up one run and striking out five.
 
Amber Oxford earned the start for the Tigers and threw for five and one-third innings. Emily Morgan came in relief for Oxford in the sixth inning, and pitched for two-thirds of an inning and struck out one batter.
 
The Tigers scored their only run of the game on Baley's RBI-ground out in the bottom of the fourth that scored Daniella Brantley.
 
 The Tigers (9-19, 5-11 GAC) will travel to Weatherford, Okla. on Friday, March 21, for a four-game, weekend series against Southwestern Oklahoma State.
