Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - A shake-up in the batting order was just what the doctor ordered as the Tigers scored seven runs on 12 hits to win the third and final game of the weekend series against Southwestern Oklahoma State, 7-3.
Tryce Schalchlin (2-0) got the win for the Tigers.
Ouachita broke open a scoreless tie in the bottom of the third inning, scoring four runson just one hit. Two of the four runs were scored on bases-loaded walks and one on a wild pitch. A bases-loaded single through the left side by
Tyler Faught scored
Keegan Ghidotti for the fourth run of the inning.
The Tigers scored again in the sixth when
Justin Weigel singled up the middle, driving in Faught from second. In the bottom of the seventh, a
Jace Melby single scored Ghidotti to increase the Tiger lead to 6-2.
A sacrifice fly from catcher
Chris Tavares drove in the final run for the Tigers in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Schalchlin went five innings, giving up one run on three hits. The Tiger bullpen combined for four innings, giving up two runs on three hits and striking out four. Two of those strikeouts belonged to
Craig Daniell, who retired the side in order in the top half of the sixth.
Tyler Faught went 3-4 with one run and one RBI.
Jace Melby extended his hitting streak to nine games, going 1-3 with a run and two RBI.
Five players drove in at least one run for the TIgers. The Tigers go to 14-15 on the year, 10-9 in the Great American Conference.
The Tigers travel to Cleveland, Mississippi for a two-game series against Delta State. Games are scheduled for March 25 at 6:30 pm and March 26 at 3:00 pm.
