Box Score 2 MONTICELLO, Ark. - The Ouachita Tigers softball team lost the first two games of a four-game series against the University of Arkansas at Monticello Cotton Blossoms on Saturday, falling 5-0 and 8-0.
Abbi Frakes started at pitcher in game one and threw for the entire game. Frakes allowed five runs on eight hits and struck out six batters. Ouachita had struggles on offense all game, as the Tigers only recorded three hits.
Lacy Blanchard led the offense for the Cotton Blossoms, batting 3-3 in game one while recorded one RBI and two runs. Katie Slaughter three for all seven innings for UAM, allowing no runs and striking out four.
In game two, the Cotton Blossoms struck quick, scoring eight runs in the first three innings. Courtney Wilson started game two for Monticello and was able to follow Slaughter as she pitched another complete-game shutout. Beth Johnson provided the offensive spark, recording two hits, three RBI's and one run.
Shelby McWhorter earned the start at pitcher for the Tigers in game two, but was replaced by Amber Oxford after two and one-third innings. McWhorter allowed eight runs off nine hits and struck out four batters. Oxford did not give up a single run in the one and two-thirds innings she pitched.
The Tigers (7-13, 3-7 GAC) will play in another doubleheader on Sunday against UAM before they host Christian Brothers University on March 11.
