Complete Games From Frakes and Nantz Not Enough for Lady Tigers

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

ADA, Okla. - Despite complete games from Abbi Frakes and Macy Nantz, the Ouachita Lady Tigers lost both games of a doubleheader to East Central on Friday. Final game scores were 2-0 and 7-3.

Game one proved to be a pitcher's duel, as both teams combined for only two runs. While pitching, Frakes gave up only four hits and two runs, both unearned. Offensively, the Lady Tigers struggled to start any sort of rally, as Ouachita had only five runners reach first base safely.

East Central's two runs, that ended up being the difference in the game, came in the bottom of the fourth inning on a two-run single.

Frakes (11-17) was handed the loss, despite not giving up an earned run.

Brianne Baley took charge early for the Lady Tigers in game two, as she homered to center field in the top of the second inning to give OBU a 1-0 lead. East Central responded quickly, however, scoring five runs in the bottom of the second. ECU later added one run in the third and one in the sixth.

In the top of the seventh inning, with one last chance at a comeback, the Lady Tigers started a rally to climb back into the ballgame. After Suzie Gresham, Jessica Branam and Kailey Madden loaded the bases, Jocelyn Jones reached base on a fielder's choice which scored Gresham. Immediately after, Baley scored Branam on a sacrifice fly to right field. East Central then put a stop to the rally and ended the game 7-3.

Nantz threw for all six innings for the Lady Tigers but was handed the loss. Kate Lacina led Ouachita with two hits, and Baley led with two runs batted in.

The Lady Tigers (17-35, 12-26 GAC) will round out their regular season with another doubleheader against East Central on Saturday, beginning at noon.
