Tigers Fall To SAU In Slugfest, 15-10

Tigers Still Alive In The Hunt For The GAC Championship

Box Score ENID, Okla. - The Tigers scored 10 runs on 16 hits, including a grand slam by Landon Moore in the bottom of the eighth inning in a loss against SAU Sunday afternoon at David Allen Memorial Ballpark. On a hot afternoon with temperatures reaching triple digits and wind gusts blowing out at 35 miles per hour, both teams put on offensive displays highlighted by the long ball.

The loss drops the Tigers out the winners bracket of the Great American Conference Baseball Championships but does not eliminate them from reachcing the finals. The Tigers will play at noon tomorrow against the loser of Sunday's game between Harding and UAM.

The Tigers trailed 3-0 in the bottom of the fourth when Keegan Ghidotti launched a line-drive missle over the wall in left to put the Tigers on the board. SAU would increase their lead and heading into the bottom of the sixth, the Tigers trailed 12-1.

Ghidotti would lead off the sixth with a triple, his GAC-leading seventh of the year, down the left field line. Chris Tavares would reach first on an infield single in the next at bat. With two on, Jace Melby launched a 381 foot bomb over the left field wall to make it a 12-4 game. Tavares would single home Landon Moore in the bottom of the seventh.

Down 15-5 in the bottom of the eighth, Tyler Faught would single opposite-field to score Jace Melby from third. A walk would load the bases for Landon Moore. Moore would drill the second pitch he saw 350 ft for a grand slam and cut the SAU lead to five.

The Tigers would try to rally in the bottom of the ninth, but were unable to score. Ouachita is now 25-27 on the year.
