Box Score 2 ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Ouachita Tigers softball team battled frigid temperatures and a tough Southern Arkansas team to earn a split of the series-opening doubleheader in Magnolia, Arkansas. The Tigers shutout the Lady Muleriders 5-0 in game one and came up one run short in game two, falling 7-6.
Macy Nantz got the start for Ouachita in game one and earned her third complete-game shutout of the season. Nantz allowed four hits over seven innings and struck out two. Nantz also did damage at the plate, going 2-3 with two RBI.
The Tigers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning.

Kate Lacina followed up with her own double, this time down the left field line to score Johnson and give the Tigers their second run of the inning. A ground ball by Branam scored pinch runner
Kaylie Roberts in the second inning to give the Tigers a 3-0 lead.
A double to right center by Nantz scored the Tigers final two runs in the third inning, scoring Lacina and Johnson. Jami Godwin entered for the Lady Muleriders and stopped the Tigers offense, but their offense had no answer for Nantz. Tigers won game one, 5-0.
Game two started off like the first with Ouachita taking a 1-0 lead in the first on a
Sarah Johnson double to left center.
Kelly Powell scored on the extra-base hit, Johnson's 12th of the season. SAU answered in the bottom of the first, scoring two runs on one hit to take a 2-1 lead.
Ouachita's bats answered to retake the lead.
Suzie Gresham singled in the second inning, scoring
Jocelyn Jones and tieing the game, 2-2.
Kate Lacina hit her sixth homerun of the year in the third inning. The shot over the left field wall scored
Kailey Madden and gave the Tigers a 4-2 lead.,
The Lady Muleriders scored four straight runs over the next three innings to take a 6-4 lead heading into the sixth inning. Down two, Ouachita's
Emily Acuna homered to left center, scoring
Suzie Gresham and tieing it up 6-6.
Southern Arkansas scored in the bottom of the sixth to retake the lead and held on to win 7-6. The two teams will play a doubleheader tomorrow starting at 12:00 p.m.
