Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Ouachita Tigers scored six runs in the final five innings but came up two runs shy in an 11-9 extra-inning defeat against Missouri Southern State University.
Alex Jennings went 2-2 with four RBI and
Sarah Johnson drove in three.
Trailing 4-3 in the bottom of the fifth, Ouachita's
Sarah Johnson singled home two runs, to give the Tigers a 5-4 advantage. Later in the inning,
Alex Jennings scored Johnson from third on a sacrifice fly to left center. The Tigers entered the sixth inning with a two-run lead.
Missouri Southern answered with three runs over the next two innings and the Tigers found themselves down one heading into the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on first and third, Jennings hit a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring
Jessica Branam from third. Ouachita left two in scoring position and the game moved on to extra innings, tied 7-7.
Both teams scored one run each in the eighth. Ouachita's run came via an RBI single through the left side by
Kailey Madden that scored
Olivia Guin from third. With the game tied at 8-8. Missouri Southern scored three in the top of the ninth, with two runs coming off a homer blasted to left center. Ouachita's Jennings doubled home
Daniella Brantley in the bottom of the ninth but the rally would end there.
The Tigers record stands at 1-3 in 2015. They will play two games tomorrow at Sully Anderson Field beginning at 2:00 p.m.
