Box Score 2 ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Ouachita Tigers dropped the final two games of the four-game series against the Northwestern Oklahoma State Rangers on Saturday, losing game one 8-0 and game two 3-2. The Rangers took the series, 3-1.
In game one on Saturday, the Rangers (12-11, 7-5 GAC) recorded 11 hits, including three homeruns. NWOSU scored a run in every inning of the game except the first and fourth. Ouachita was held to only one hit in the six-inning game, which came from
Kelly Powell.
Sarah Johnson started at pitcher for the Tigers, but was replaced after 1.1 innings.
Macy Nantz finished out the game but was handed the loss.
In the second game of the doubleheader, Northwestern struck first with three runs after the first three innings. The Tigers responded, however, in the fifth inning when
Kate Lacina picked up an RBI on a fielder's choice. Ouachita added one more run in the sixth inning when
Alex Jennings reached third and later scored on a throwing error.
In the top of the seventh, the Tigers attempted one last comeback as Powell led off the inning with a single up the middle. The Rangers eventually recorded three outs, however, without surrendering a run.
Powell and Lacina each recorded a team-high two hits in the game.
Delaney Bedunah pitched the complete game for the Tigers but was handed the loss.
The Tigers (6-16, 2-11 GAC) will host Southwestern Oklahoma State in a four-game series next weekend. The series will begin with a doubleheader on Friday, March 20, at 2 p.m.
