Box Score 2 ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Ouachita Tigers traveled to Alva, Oklahoma for a four-game series against the Rangers of Northwestern Oklahoma State. The Tigers and Rangers split on Friday, with Northwestern taking game one, 6-1 and the Tigers winning game two, 3-1.,
The Tigers took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning of game one. After a lead-off triple by
Kelly Powell,
Sarah Johnson drove her in on a ground ball to short. Northwestern answered with two runs in the bottom of the first to take a 2-1 lead. They would add four more runs to get the win, 6-1.
Ouachita managed only two more hits in the game, including a single by Powell, who finished 2-3 in the game.
Macy Nantz pitched six innings for the Tigers giving up six runs on 10 hits. She struckout four and walked three. Mantz also went 1-3 at the plate.,
Delaney Bedunah got the start for Ouachita in game two. She picked up the complete game victory allowing only one run over seven innings.,
After surrendering the Rangers lone run in the bottom of the first, the Tigers tied it up 1-1 in the top of the fifth.
Alex Jennings scored the tying run for Ouachita. In the top of the seventh, a double by
Kailey Madden scored Powell from first. Madden scored on a single by Johnson to give Ouachita the 3-1 lead and the win.
The two teams will decide the series today with a doubleheader beginning at noon.
