Box Score 2 ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Ouachita Tigers opened a four game series against conference foe Southwestern Oklahoma State by taking the first two games of a doubleheader, The Tigers scored in the bottom of the seventh in game one two win 3-2 and turned on the offense in game two to win 12-4.
Macy Nantz got the start in game one. Nantz (4-8) went the distance for the Tigers, striking out eight in seven innings to earn her fourth win of the year. She allowed two runs, one earned and walked three. Nantz went 1-3 at the plate with an RBI.
Ouachita scored two runs in the bottom of the third to take a 2-0 lead.
Kailey Madden scored from second after a throwing error allowed
Sarah Johnson to reach first. Nantz followed up with a double to left to score Johnson. SWOSU answered with runs in the top of the fourth and fifth innings to tie the game at 2-2.
A SWOSU error in the bottom of the seventh allowed
Jessica Branam to reach first base. She advanced to second on a stolen base with two outs. Centerfielder
Kelly Powell singled up the middle for her second hit of the game and scoring Branam for the winning run.
Ouachita started off game two by taking a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. A two-out single to left field by
Jocelyn Jones scored Johnson and Powell.
Suzie Gresham added to the Tigers lead in the bottom of the second with a bomb over the wall in left field.
Kate Lacina also homered in the inning, her eighth of the season, to give the Tigers a 6-0 lead.
With two runners on in the top of third, Gresham hit another ball over the fence in left for her second homerun of the game. The three-run shot increased the lead to 9-0. Powell, Madden and johnson hit back-to-back-to-back doubles to score two more. Jones singled home Johnson to give the Tigers a 12-0 lead. They held on for 12-4 win in five innings.
Delaney Bedunah got the win to improve to 4-2 on the season.
Jade Sones came in to get the final out of the game.
Ouachita improves to 8-16 overall and 4-11 in the GAC.
