Box Score 2 ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Ouachita Tigers softball team dropped a pair of games to open the weekend series against Arkansas Tech in Russellville on Friday. The Tigers lost game one 5-3 and game two by a final of 7-2.
Trailing 2-0 in the top of the sixth, the Tigers scored on a RBI double by
Sarah Johnson.
Kailey Madden scored from first on the extra-base hit by Johnson to make it a 2-1 game. Tech answered in the bottom of the sixth, scoring three unearned runs to increase their lead to 5-1.
With two outs in the top of the seventh, Suzie Grasham singled and then moved herself into scoring position by stealing second.
Emily Acuna followed up with a shot over the wall in right center to make it a two run game. Tech would record the final out and take game one, 5-3.
Macy Nantz took the loss for the Tigers, scattering seven hits over six innings and allowing only two earned runs.
Trailing in game two,
Emily Acuna got the Tigers on the scoreboard with her second homerun of the day. Her fifth inning solo shot to left made it a 4-1 game.
Jessica Branam scored on a throwing error later in the inning to get Ouachita within two.
Tech scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning off the Tiger bullpen and would hold on for the 7-2 victory.
Delaney Bedunah took the loss for Ouachita, going 4.2 innings, striking out one and allowing four runs, all earned.
The two teams will square off again tomorrow in Russellville. The doubleheader is scheduled to begin at noon.
