Box Score BETHANY, Okla. – The Ouachita Tigers recorded a season-high 17 hits in a 10-4 win over the Southern Nazarene Crimson Storm on Sunday.
Parker Norris,
Jace Melby and
Will Wallace all homered in Ouachita's fourth straight win.
Connor Eller (8-1) held the Crimson Storm scoreless through the first four innings, striking out five batters. The Tigers took an early lead in the second inning on a sacrifice fly by
Drew Feuerbacher and later extended the lead to 2-0 in the fifth on a sacrifice fly by
Will Wallace.
Kyle Alexander added an RBI in the fifth inning, as well, on a single up the middle that scored
Tyler Faught.
After the Crimson Storm (9-24, 7-18 GAC) scored one in the bottom of the fifth, Ouachita responded with three runs in the top of the sixth. The scoring started with a two-out home run by
Jace Melby, and Wallace immediately followed with another homer to put the Tigers ahead 5-1.
Reuben Miller continued the rally with a single to right field, and after stealing second, he was able to score on a single by Faught.
The Tigers then continued their offensive showcase with four runs over the next two innings.
Parker Norris recorded two runs batted in in the seventh on a home run, and Feuerbacher picked up his second RBI in the eighth on a sacrifice fly. Norris then added his third RBI on a single through the left side.
Eller went seven innings for Ouachita, allowing four runs (three earned) and striking out six.
Josh Reeves came in to pitch the final two innings and allowed just one hit.
Norris and Faught led the Tigers with three hits on the day, and Norris had a team-high three runs batted in. Melby recorded his first triple and fifth homer of the season, while Norris belted his second home run and Wallace hit his first.
The Tigers (21-12, 12-5 GAC) will take on Southern Nazarene again on Monday, in a doubleheader beginning at noon. Ouachita is currently first in the Great American Conference standings.
