Box Score 2 ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Ouachita Tigers fell to 10-30 on the season on Sunday, losing two games to the Harding University Lady Bisons, 6-2 and 7-2.
Ouachita scored first in game one, after
Kate Lacina singled up the middle to score
Sarah Johnson. Johnson recorded the first hit of the game before scoring from third three at-bats later.
Macy Nantz held Harding (20-24, 14-14 GAC) scoreless through the first two innings, but the Lady Bisons took a 2-1 lead in the third on three hits and one error. Harding then extended its lead to 3-1 in the top of the fourth, but the Tigers responded with one run in the bottom of the inning to cut the deficit to one run.
After a scoreless fifth inning, Harding took a 6-2 lead with a three-run sixth inning. The Lady Bisons hit two home runs in the inning.
In the bottom of the seventh,
Emily Acuna and
Kelly Powell picked up back-to-back singles, but the Lady Bisons ended the inning and the game with two consecutive outs. Nantz (4-13) pitched all seven innings for the Tigers but was handed the loss. Lacina led the team with two hits and one run batted in.
Harding was first to score in the second game of the doubleheader, as three walks and a single allowed the Lady Bisons to score one run in the top of the first. Four consecutive hits by the Lady Tigers in the bottom of the inning, however, tied the game 1-1. Powell led off the inning with a single, before Lacina singled and Nantz doubled. Johnson then singled to Lacina from third.
The Lady Bisons took back the lead with three runs over the next two innings, but Lacina pulled the Tigers within two after a solo home run in the bottom of the third. The Tigers were unable to keep Harding from scoring, as the Lady Bisons added one in the fifth and two in the seventh to take the 7-2 win.
Jade Sones (1-9) was handed the loss, despite only three out of six runs being earned.
Delaney Bedunah started the game but was replaced by Sones after 0.1 innings.
For the day, Lacina was 4-6 with three runs, two runs batted in and one homer.
The Tigers (10-30, 6-23 GAC) will host Harding in another doubleheader on Monday beginning at noon. Ouachita will then host East Central on Friday, April 24, and Saturday, April 25, for the final series of the 2015 season.
