Box Score 2 ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Ouachita Tigers split a doubleheader with Southern Nazarene today in Bethany, Oklahoma. The Tigers hammered the Crimson Storm 9-1 in game one and fell in game two 6-1. Ouachita won the series 2-1 and currently sit in second place in the Great American Conference.
Justin Weigle powered the Tigers offense in game one by hitting for the cycle and driving in five runs. He homered in the first inning, tripled in the fifth, singled in the eighth and doubled in the ninth. Weigle also scored three runs in the game.
Starter
Connor Reed (3-1) pitched a solid 6.1 innings to earn his third win of the season. He allowed one run on five hits and struck out five batters.
Tripp Cecil earned the save, striking out two in 2.2 innings.
The Tigers scored four of their nine runs in the top of the ninth inning.
Southern Nazarene held the Tigers to only four hits in game two. The Tigers lone run came off the bat of
Parker Norris who hit his second homerun of the series in the top of the sixth inning. Weigle,
Reuben Miller and
Will Wallace collected the other three hits for the Tigers.
John Franklin Matros (4-3) took the loss. He allowed six runs, two earned, on nine hits. He struck out three and walked two.
Zach Gloff pitched 1.1 inning in relief allowing no hits and striking out four.
The Tigers will travel to Russellville, Ark. tomorrow (4/21) to face Arkansas Tech in a non-conference matchup. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
