Box Score 2 ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The East Central University Tigers defeated the Ouachita Baptist Tigers in both games of a doubleheader on Saturday. ECU won the first game 8-0 and then defeated Ouachita 10-2 in game two.
East Central (26-13, 23-8 GAC) recorded 13 hits in the first game, while holding Ouachita to only four. ECU did most of its scoring early, as the Tigers put up six runs through the first three innings. East Central later added two more runs in the seventh.
Macy Nantz (4-15) was handed the loss for Ouachita, despite only five of ECU's eight runs being earned.
Ouachita fell behind early again in game two, as East Central posted two runs in the first and one in the second. Ouachita recorded one run in the bottom of the first, however, when Kelly Powell scored Jessica Branam on a fielder's choice. Kailey Madden then brought Ouachita within one run in the bottom of the third with a homer run.Â
East Central responded immediately with a five-run fourth inning to take a 8-2 lead and then added two more runs in the fifth. After holding Ouachita scoreless in the bottom of the fifth, ECU took the game, 10-2.
Jade Sones (2-10) started for the Tigers, but was given the loss. Delaney Bedunah and Sarah Johnson also pitched for Ouachita in the five-inning game.Â
Ouachita (11-33, 7-26) will host ECU again on Sunday for the final two games of the season. The doubleheader is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
