Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - A late rally by the Ouachita Tigers pulled them with one run of the Henderson State Reddies, but were unable to close the gap, falling 4-3 in their second game at the GAC Championships in Enid, Oklahoma Sunday night.
Parker Norris went 2-2 with a double and a run scored.
Josh Reeves threw two perfect innings in relief to keep the Tigers close.
Trailing 1-0 in the top of the third,
Justin Weigle reached on a fielder's choice with one out, driving in
Jakahari Howell from third to tie the game. Howell had reached by fielder's choice earlier in the inning and made his way to third by stealing second and advancing to third on a bunt single by Norris.
Henderson State broke the tie in the bottom of the fourth inning on a two-out two-run homer to left field. They would score another run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the fifth and lead 4-1 going into the eighth inning.
Parker Norris hit a one-out double to get the Tigers going in their half of the eighth.
Justin Weigle reached first on an error by the HSU second baseman trying to field a high pop fly. With
Jace Melby at the plate, Norris and Weigle were given the green light to steal. A throwing error by the Reddie catcher allowed both Norris and Weigle to score on the play, cutting the HSU lead, 4-3. Melby followed up with a walk, but was left stranded on first to end the inning.
The Tigers were retired in order in the top of ninth and dropped their first game in the GAC championships, 4-3.
