Tigers host Northwestern Oklahoma State for four game series

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Ouachita Tigers softball team will host the Northwestern Oklahoma State Rangers (5-29, 3-21) this weekend for a four game series at Sully Anderson Field. The two GAC foes will play doubleheaders on Friday, April 1 and Saturday at April 2. First pitch for game one on both days is set for 1:00 p.m.

The Tigers (9-22, 3-20) are coming off a two-game series sweep over rival Henderson State. The wins pushed the Tigers ahead of Northwestern Oklahoma State in the GAC standings. this weekend series is crucial for either teams hopes of staying alive for a spot in conference postseason play.

Catcher Sarah Johnson continues to lead the team in batting average, hits, runs batted in, total bases and slugging percentage. Recent starters, Gabby Gonzalez, Delaney Bono and Halley Ryburn have sparked an offense that has averaged 6 runs per game over the past three, more than double the team's average in the previous 28 games.

Kelsey O'Brien picked up a win in relief and her first career save in the series versus Henderson State. O'Brien's ERA has dropped 64 points in her last five appearances. Macy Nantz is 1-1 in her last two starts with an ERA of 1.63. She's struck out seven and allowed only two extra-base hits.

Jordan Haya leads the Rangers offense with a .330 batting average. She leads her team in 10 offensive categories. Pitchers Madison Garza, Karly Murray and Jalena Arthur have accounted for the five NWOSU wins this year.
