ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Ouachita Tigers baseball team travels to Shawnee, Oklahoma this weekend for a three-game series versus Oklahoma Baptist. The Tigers (11-26, 7-17) look to upset the Bison this weekend and remain in the hunt for post-season play.
The Tigers currently rank 11
th in the GAC but are only two games behind Arkansas Tech and Northwestern Oklahoma State. If the season ended today, Tech would take the final spot for the GAC Tournament.
Justin Weigle is hitting a team-high .293 in 123 at-bats. He leads the Tigers with 20 runs scored and 20 RBI.
Will Wallace is hitting .289 and has a team-high 41 hits. Starting pitcher
Connor Eller has 73 strikeouts in 71.1 innings and has a record of 3-5 with three complete games.
Connor Reed leads the Ouachita starters with a 3.47 ERA.
The Bison (25-13, 15-9) sit fourth in the GAC but are ineligible for the post season due to their provisional membership status. They are led at the plate by Brandon Cuddy (.369, 39 runs, 9 HR, 44 RBI) and Ryan Joyce (.318, 27 runs, 11 HR, 40 RBI). Starters Jinny Parra, Carson McPherson and Nathan Thompson have combined for 16 wins, 210 strikeouts and a 3.14 ERA.
Due to severe weather forecasted for Saturday, the two teams will play a doubleheader tomorrow beginning at 2:00 p.m. Saturday's game is tentatively scheduled for 1:00 p.m. but could be moved up to avoid inclement weather.
