ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Tigers face Oklahoma Baptist this weekend in the final GAC home series of the season. The Lady Bison enter the weekend series ranked 10
th in the GAC, four games ahead of the Tigers. After the season series win over HSU, Ouachita now stands at 13-28 overall and 7-26 in conference play.
The offense continues to carry the Tigers through the final stretch of 2016. Ouachita is 6-6 over its last 12 games. In that span, the Tigers are averaging 6.3 runs per game are hitting at a clip of .328. Four Tigers (
Sarah Johnson,
Gabby Gonzalez,
Daniella Brantley and
Delaney Bono) are hitting above .300 for the year.
It's been a group effort in the circle for the Tigers during that same span.
Kelsey O'Brien picked up three of the Tigers wins, followed by
Macy Nantz with two and Gonzalez with one.
Marissa Butler and
Halley Ryburn have also accumulated significant innings in the circle during the final games of the year.
Oklahoma Baptist is hitting .242 as a team this year. They are led by Shalee Cordell and Madison Vaughan. Both are hitting above .300 and have 40-plus hits this season. Lady Bison starters McKenzie Jones and Bailee Save lead the team in appearances and starts in the circle. Jones has 11 complete games this year and Save has a team-low 2.86 ERA.
The series begins with a doubleheader on Friday at Sully Anderson Field. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Saturday's doubleheader will also include a special ceremony between games honoring the 2016 Ouachita Softball seniors. Saturday will be the final home conference series for
Suzie Gresham and
Kailey Madden. Gresham and Madden have been huge contributors to the program, playing in a combined 348 games over the past four seasons.
