ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Ouachita Tigers' baseball team (11-27, 8-16 GAC) will host the Northwestern Oklahoma State Rangers (11-27, 8-16 GAC) in a series this weekend.
The Tigers are looking to recover from being swept last weekend by Arkansas-Monticello with a series this weekend against an evenly-matched opponent. All three losses last weekend featured late comebacks from UAM.
Ryan Hammer led the Tigers from the plate with four hits while
Jakahari Howell had three RBI on the weekend.
Preston Speers leads the Tigers this season with 28 RBI and 5 home runs.
Justin Weigle has also hit five home runs while posting a .315 batting average.
John Franklin Matros leads the Tigers from the mound with a 2-3 record and a 4.28 earned run average.
The Rangers will be heading into this weekend's series with high confidence. NWOSU swept Southern Nazarene last weekend while averaging 13 runs per game. Five players hit seven home runs for NWOSU in the series, including first baseman Pat Delano and designated hitter Cooper Stanley with two each. The Rangers' ace pitcher is Bryce Tomlin with a record of 3-5 on the season. Tomlin pitched in NWOSU's 18-8 series opener against SNU and struck out eight batters in five innings.
Ouachita swept SNU in a home series earlier this season.
The Tigers will open play on Thursday, April 13 at 3 p.m. Play will continue on Friday with a doubleheader. Friday's games will begin at 12 and 3 p.m.
