ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Ouachita Tigers' softball team (16-16, 10-20 GAC) will face the Northwestern Oklahoma State Rangers (13-29, 11-19 GAC) in a conference series this weekend.
The Tigers will be heading into this series after losing their series against Arkansas-Monticello this weekend. The Tigers won the second game of the series by a final score of 5-3.
Marissa Butler (6-7) pitched a remarkable complete game in the win. Butler struck out twelve batters in that game.
Daniella Brantley had three RBI in that series. Brantley has 22 RBI this season for the Tigers.
The Rangers are in a similar situation to the Tigers after their series last weekend. NWOSU lost three of their four games last weekend against Southern Nazarene. Second baseman Amber Mills hit five RBI and a home run in the series for NWOSU. Mills has 15 RBI this season.
Third baseman Brittany Corrales is the only player for NWOSU that has a batting average over .300. Corrales has a .308 average and 9 RBI on the season. Madison Garza is the Rangers' ace pitcher. She has a 7-12 record this season and a 4.55 earned run average.
The series will begin in Ava, Okla., on Friday, April 14 with a doubleheader. Friday's games will begin at 2 and 4 p.m., while Saturday's games will begin at 12 and 2 p.m.
