ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Ouachita Tigers' baseball team (11-24, 8-13 GAC) travels to Monticello this weekend to face the Arkansas-Monticello Boll Weevils (20-12, 15-6 GAC).
The Tigers are coming off a series loss last weekend against Southern Arkansas. The Tigers won the first game of the series over the 11th ranked Muleriders by a score of 5-0 to end the Mustangs 16-game win streak, but then lost the last two games. The Tigers then lost a non-conference game Tuesday against Delta State.
John Franklin Matros stole the show for the Tigers last weekend. Matros pitched a complete game in the Tigers' win over the Muleriders and struck out six batters while walking none. He was a notable mention for GAC pitcher of the week.
Ouachita's opponent this weekend, the UAM Boll Weevils, is having a good season thus far and is coming off of a series win against Henderson last weekend. UAM lost the first game of the series, but then won the last two games in a convincing fashion to clinch the victory.

Monticello's ace on the mound is Grant Black. Black has a 5-3 pitching record this season and a 3.21 era. He struck out five batters and only gave up three hits in Monticello's 3-2 loss against Henderson last weekend.
Games will begin in Monticello this weekend on Friday, April 7 at 2 p.m., and continue with a doubleheader Saturday at 12 and 3 p.m.
