ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Ouachita Tigers' softball team (15-23, 9-17 GAC) will play host to the Arkansas-Monticello Blossoms this weekend (25-11, 18-6 GAC) after both teams swept Henderson in the last week.
The Tigers were swept last weekend against 8th ranked SAU, but swept Henderson in a midweek GAC doubleheader. The Tigers hit two homeruns against Henderson, one coming from
Natalie Jackson and one from
Jordan Fielder to spark a late comeback. Ouachita saw solid pitching performances from both
Kelsey O'Brien and
Marissa Butler in the wins.
UAM is coming off of a series sweep against Henderson last weekend and a split doubleheader with SAU on Tuesday. The Blossoms shut out the Reddies in three of the games and won the fourth by a score of 6-3. Against SAU, UAM won the first game by a score of 4-3 and lost the second by a score of 8-0. McKenzie Rice leads the Blossoms with a .363 batting average, eight home runs, and 19 RBI. Rice had two solo home runs against Henderson last weekend.
The two teams will begin play in Arkadelphia on Friday, April 7, with a doubleheader at 2 and 4 p.m. Play will continue into Saturday with games at 12 and 2 p.m.
