Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Ouachita Tiger baseball team lost 9-3 to Harding University in the series finale on Monday afternoon at Rab Rodgers Field.
Ouachita (7-16, 4-8 GAC) is now 0-13 on the season when scoring less than five runs in the contest. Harding (7-14, 2-10 GAC) won just their second Great American Conference game of the season on Monday.
The Tigers offense began the scoring in the bottom of the first inning.
Jakahari Howell (Arkadelphia, Ark.) began the inning with a walk. Howell scored on an RBI single by
Kyle Alexander (Conway, Ark.) two batters later. A few batters later
Preston Speers hit an RBI single to left center to score Alexander.
The score remained 2-0 for several innings before the top of the fourth inning. The Bison loaded up the bases with no outs in the inning. Adam Bahloul (Maumelle, Ark.) then walked in a pair of runs to tie the game at 2. David Butterfield hit a sacrifice fly to deep centerfield to give the Bison a 3-2 advantage.
Butterfield leadoff the top of the seventh inning with a leadoff walk. A few batters later Grant Guest singled up the middle on a 1-0 count from Michael Shepherd (Cabot, Ark.) to give Harding a 4-2 lead.
The Bison then unloaded in the top of the eighth inning with 5 runs in the frame. Harding took a 9-2 lead into the top of the ninth.
The Tigers started a rally in the bottom of the ninth inning.
Austin White (Arkadelphia, Ark.) leadoff the inning with a homerun to left centerfield. Ouachita then went ground out, fly out, ground out to end the game.
Ouachita will be back in action on Tuesday afternoon against Texas A&M Texarkana. First pitch is scheduled form 2 p.m.
