Steen Plays Hero for Second Time in Three Days

Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Louis Steen took a 2-2 pitch and crushed it over the left field wall to lift Ouachita over Texas A&M Texarkana 7-6 on Tuesday afternoon.

It was the third time in four games that Ouachita (8-16) came away with a walk-off victory. The win on Tuesday afternoon, also broke a two-game losing streak to Texas A&M Texarkana (17-5).

Jakahari Howell (Arkadelphia, Ark.) leadoff the bottom of the first with double to left center field. The senior outfielder then stole third base to put him 90 feet away from the game's first run.  

Howell did not have to wait long though; Austin White (Arkadelphia, Ark.) crushed a double to right center field allowing Howell to score the opening run of the contest.

The game stayed at 1-0 until the bottom of the third inning, Kyle Alexander (Conway, Ark.) changed that with one swing of the bat. The senior took a 1-0 pitch and smashed the ball over the left field wall to give the Tigers a 2-0 advantage in the game.

The inning was not over though as the Tigers stayed in scoring position, thanks to back-to-back walks. Tee Collier hit a line drive to right field and the ball bounced out of the right fielders glove. The error by the Eagles allowed Ouachita to score two unearned runs.

The game remained 4-0 until the top of the fifth inning. Bronson Butcher hit a two-out, 2-RBI single up the middle to bring the Eagles back within a pair of the Tigers.
Texarkana kept chipping away at the Tigers lead as Kolton Perfect hit an RBI single to right field.

Holding on to a slim 4-3 lead in the game, Ouachita added insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Steen and Tyler Riebock each had RBI hits in the inning to put the Tigers up 6-3.

Texarkana added a run in the top of the seventh inning to stay within striking distance of Ouachita. The Eagles made their move in the top of the eighth inning as Butcher and Zack Boehler each had RBI singles to tie up the game at 6-6.

Each team had chances in the ninth inning before the game went into extra innings. Steen stepped to the plate with one out in the bottom of the tenth inning and crushed a homerun to win the game for the Tigers.

Steen was the player of the game for the Tigers offensively, going 2-for-5 with a pair of RBI's in the game.  Kaden Tollett picked up win number three on the season.

Ouachita will begin a three game series against East Central University on Friday afternoon. The game is scheduled for a 2 p.m. first pitch at Rab Rodgers Field.
