Box Score 2 ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Ouachita softball lost to Henderson State in consecutive games on Tuesday night 3-0 and 8-1 at Sully Anderson Field.
Over the two game series, Ouachita (19-24, 15-21 GAC) committed four errors on the night that lead to Henderson State runs. The sweep also means that Henderson State (28-19, 20-16 GAC) picks up a series sweep over Ouachita for the first time this decade.
Game One: Henderson State 3, Ouachita 0
Henderson State's Bethany Allen got the scoring going for the Reddies in the top of the first inning. The shortstop hit a one-out double to left center field to bring in the first run of the game.
Allen hit an RBI single in the top of the fourth inning, giving Henderson State a 2-0 advantage. A third run scored after Ouachita catcher
Sarah Johnson's (Mount Vernon, Texas) throw to second base sailed into centerfield.
Natalie Jackson broke up the no-hit bid in the bottom of the fifth inning with a single through the left side of the infield.
Ouachita left a pair of runners stranded in the bottom of the seventh inning as Henderson State took game one of the afternoon.
Game Two: Henderson State 8, Ouachita 1
I did not take long for the Reddies to get on the board in the night cap of the double header. Alexia Lopez hit a two-RBI double up the middle in the bottom of the first inning to give Henderson State the early lead.
Madison Crosby (Sheridan, Ark.) answered back though in the bottom of the second inning. The senior shortstop doubled to left center and brought the Tigers within a run of the Reddies.
Henderson State added runs in both the third and fourth inning before scoring four runs in the top of the fifth inning. Ashleigh Erb had the big hit for the Reddies in the top of the fifth with a three-RBI triple down the right field line.
Ouachita was unable to get any offense going in the final few innings as Henderson State came away with the sweep.
Ouachita will hit the road tomorrow afternoon as they take on the University of Central Arkansas at 6 p.m.
