Box Score Arkadelphia, Ark. - Tiger Baseball begins the season with a hard fought game against the Union (Tenn.) University Bulldogs.
 
Sophomore Luke Scaggs started on the mound for the Tigers to open up the 2019 baseball season. The Tigers would allow the Bulldogs to take a three run lead to start the game. However, during the bottom of the third inning Sophomore catcher Cade McBride drilled a shot to right center for a single. Shortly after the hit two Ouachita players would cross the plate for the first two runs of the season for Ouachita.
 
In the next two innings the Tigers would lock it down defensively as Scaggs settled into the game. He would sit the Bulldogs down in consecutive order during the top of the first to give the Tigers some momentum. 
 
Union, however, would respond by putting two more runs across the board. Scaggs would end his day in the fifth as  Junior Carter Wade was call upon to pitch for the Tigers. At the bottom of the 5th inning, Sophomore Infielder Tyler Riebock hit a bomb over the right field wall to add two more runs on the board making it 4-5 ball game heading into the 6th inning.
 
Kaden Tollett would enter the game for Ouachita to pitch after Union would extend their lead to 6-4. Tollett quickly found his grove after surrender a leadoff double; he would sit the next three batters down in order to end the 8th.

 No other runs were scored for the remainder of the game, but Junior Bo Sutton would come in for Tollett on the mound to close out the game for the Tigers. Ouachita would end the season opener against Union in a 4-6 loss
 
The game against Union was the first of a double header on Friday where the Tigers faced off against Henderson State at 5:00 PM. Ouachita will return to action on Saturday February 2 at 3:00 PM against Union.
