Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Ouachita Baptist Tigers fight hard against University of Missouri at St. Louis but fall in the end 2-1.
Marissa Butler pitched the whole game only giving up two hits and two earned runs. The Tiger run came from
Tobi Finley who scored on a stolen base by
Kyndal Moyer.
In the first inning Butler gave up a leadoff hit, but she forced the next three batters into outs. In the bottom of the inning the Tigers could not get anything going as they went up three up and three down. In the second inning neither team could get anything going as the teams went into the third inning scoreless. In the top of the third Butler sat down all three batters in a row to set up the Tiger's bottom half.
In the bottom of the third, Ouachita led off with a
Tobi Finley walk, and she would advance to second on a passed ball.
Jillian Jones would advance her to third on a ground out. After a
Mabry Smith walk,
Kyndal Moyer would pinch hit for her. Moyer would steal second and on the throw Finley would cross the plate. The Tigers would load the bases but not score any more runs.
In the fourth the Tigers would shut down UMSL and get a leadoff hit from freshman
Leighton Withers. She would be stranded on base and for the next two innings neither team would get anything going as the pitching was lights out for both teams.

In the top of the seventh, USML would use a pinch hit two run homerun to take the 2-1. The Tigers tried to mount a comeback, but they would come up short.
On how the team showed today Coach Nantz said, "The team has made tremendous improvement since the beginning of the season. However, one pitch can change a game as shown in today's game. We are excited in continuing to push forward this season and will use the bright spots from the game which includes the tremendous pitching, solid defense and team chemistry. We are now gearing up for our game with Northeastern tomorrow."
The Tigers will take the field at Sully Anderson tomorrow at 12:30 against Northeastern State. Ouachita faced off against the opponent during the Ronnie Hawkins Memorial Invitational earlier in the season.
