Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Ouachita Softball sweeps the East Central Tigers after winning the first game of the double header and the second game being canceled.
Marissa Butler would pitch 6.1 innings striking out six and only allowing two runs. She would pick up her second win in consecutive days, and
Laurel Glatch would pick up her second save of the year.
Madison Miller would pick up two runs batted in on a pinch hit single.
In the bottom of the first
Macy Wilson would drive a two out single up the middle but would not advance from first base. In the second inning neither team would be able to do anything as they would both go three up and three down. In the top of the third East Central would put runners on first and second, but Butler would get help from her defense as
Leighton Withers would make a highlight catch on a line drive.
In the bottom of the fourth the Tigers would get a two out double by
Jillian Jones to right center.
Tobi Finley would then draw a walk which would turn into runners on second and third after a passed ball. However, the Tigers could not get the runners across and would go to the fifth tied at zero.
In the fifth inning ECU would single twice and then double to score one run. However, they would not be able to do anything else and Butler would hold them to one run. In the bottom of the sixth the Tigers would tie East Central on a homerun by
Natalie Jackson over the left field wall. The Tigers would not stop there though as
Macy Wilson would get on base after a walk and
Jillian Jones would follow suit after being hit by a pitch.
Tobi Finley would load the bases after a single to center field.
Leighton Withers would drive in a run on a single to left field. Jones would then score on a wild pitch putting runners at second in third and giving th Tigers a 3-1 lead.
Samantha Ortiz would walk and lead to
Madison Miller pinch hitting for the Tigers. She would send a single up the middle scoring two runs and increasing the Tigers lead to 5-1.
In the top of the seventh Butler would get a quick fly out to left field. She would then, however, give up a solo homerun.
Laurel Glatch would come in and get a fly out then strikeout the last batter to end the game.
The Tigers will be back in action on Tuesday as they cross the street to face off against rival Henderson State looking to close out the series.
