CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Ouachita Tigers (5-7 GAC, 9-12 Overall) take on the Delta State Statesmen (6-6 GSC, 12-9 Overall) in a 5:00 p.m. game on Tuesday.
2019 Season
Delta State finished third place in the Gulf South Conference in 2019 with a 20-9 record, 42-14 overall. They won the Gulf South Conference Tournament Championship and advanced to the NCAA South Regional Tournament. After sweeping the regional with a 5-1 win against Embry-Riddle University and back-to-back wins against Valdosta State University, 6-4 and 9-6, they advanced to the NCAA South Super Regional Tournament. The Statesmen were eliminated after two straight losses to the University of Tampa, 1-3 and 3-6. Tampa went on to win the Division II National Championship.
2020 Season
The Statesmen are currently tied for sixth place in the GSC with the University of Auburn at Montgomery at 6-6. Delta State is coming off of a 2-1 series against Montgomery with a 10-0 eight-inning win in game one, a 4-8 loss in game two, and a 14-4 win in game three.
Last Time
The Ouachita Tigers came up short in a 0-10 game at Rab Rodgers Field in 2019.
