MONTICELLO, Ark. – The Ouachita Tigers (4-5 GAC, 8-9 Overall) travel to play against the Boll Weevils from the University of Arkansas at Monticello (5-4 GAC, 7-9 Overall) for a midweek game on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m.
2019 Season
Monticello finished as the one seed last year and was named GAC Champions for the regular season after a 24-6 regular season (35-15 overall). Although the Boll Weevils were knocked out of the GAC Championship Tournament in the semifinal game by Harding University, they received an automatic bid to the NCAA Central Regional Tournament. After winning their first game against Minnesota State University at Mankato 13-2, they were eliminated from the playoffs after losing back-to-back games to Augustana University 4-9, and Oklahoma Baptist University 15-17.
This Season
A few weeks ago, Ouachita hosted Monticello at Rab Rodgers Field for a three-game conference series. The Tigers came up short in games one and two, 1-8 and 3-5 respectively, but pulled out a 7-6 comeback win in game three.
The last time the Tigers took on the Boll Weevils in a midweek game was in 2018. Ouachita took an 8-4 victory over Monticello and ended an eight-game losing streak against the Boll Weevils.
Ouachita will look to take down the Boll Weevils on their home turf before heading to Shawnee, Oklahoma, this weekend for a three-game series with Oklahoma Baptist University.
