Box Score 2 BETHANY, Okla. – The Ouachita Baptist Tigers lost two games 6-2 and 9-1 on the road against Southern Nazarene.
GAME 1: Ouachita 2, Southern Nazarene 6
The Tigers held a 2-1 lead in the second inning, but SNU rattled off five runs in the bottom of the second to put things away.
Madison Miller started for the Tigers and went 1.1 innings. She gave up six runs on six hits.
Faith Melton came in relief of Miller and had a stellar day. She went 4.2 innings and did not allow a run as she struck out two.
Jillian Jones, Sloane Precure, Madison Miller and Heather Brown all recorded hits.
For the Tigers, the two runs in the second came off the bat of Madison Miller as she homered to left.
The Tigers were unable to get the shutdown inning as SNU regained the lead on a five-run second.
No runs were scored in the third through seventh innings.
GAME 2: Ouachita 1, Southern Nazarene 9
The Tigers scratched a run in the fourth, but it was not nearly enough as SNU ended the game in six innings.
Faith Melton started for the Tigers and went 4.2 innings. Melton allowed seven runs, six earned, on eight hits.
Hannah Stuart came in relief of Melton and went 1 inning. She gave up two earned runs on four hits.
Tobi Finley had two hits and a stolen base. Sloane Precure had a double and the lone RBI.
SNU drew first blood in the opening frame and its bats never went to sleep. It was a single to center for SNU that ended the game early in the sixth inning.
The Tigers dropped to 2-14, 0-8 in GAC play, while SNU improved to 15-5, 8-0 in conference.
The Tigers return to action Tuesday, March 3 on the road in a double header at Mississippi College. Game one will start at 3 pm, game two will follow it at 5 pm.
