All-GAC Teams (PDF)
The Great American Conference has announced its postseason softball awards, with three Ouachita Tigers named to the All-Conference teams and five earning academic awards. Shortstop
Hope Waid and center fielder
Heather Brown were named to the Second Team, and pitcher
Nikki Schneider earned Honorable Mention accolades. Brown and
Sloane Precure were named GAC Elite Scholars, while
Callie Jourdan,
Kyndal Moyer and
Hannah Stuart earned GAC Distinguished Scholar Athlete status.
Waid finished the regular season with a .373 batting average, the eighth-highest in the conference. The Tiger leadoff hitter scored 31 runs, tied for the fourth-most in the conference, and her 47 hits tied for the sixth-most in the league.Â
Brown enters the GAC Tournament seventh in the conference with a .375 average and 11th in on-base percentage at .440. Her seven doubles led Ouachita.
Schneider posted a 2.26 earned run average in the regular season as a freshman. the seventh-lowest in the conference. She held opponents to a .219 batting average, the fourth-lowest mark in the GAC.Â
Brown and Precure were two of four players to be named GAC Elite Scholar Athletes. Those two, along with Jourdan, Moyer, and Stuart, combined to give the Tigers five academic honorees, tied with Harding and Southern Nazarene for the most in the conference.
