Tigers' Season Ends In GAC Quarterfinals

Box Score

THE RUNDOWN

Ouachita Baptist softball saw its season come to an end in the quarterfinal of the Great American Conference Tournament on Friday in a 9-2 loss to Southeastern Oklahoma State in Bentonville, Arkansas. Sloane Precure and Hope Waid each drove in runs for the Tigers.

After back-to-back singles by Waid and Heather Brown, Precure's first-inning base hit plated Waid with the game's first run. The Savage Storm answered with an unearned run of their own in the bottom of the frame.

The Tigers manufactured a run to take the lead back in the second, as Kirsten Shaw led off with a single, advanced to second on Kendyl Dockter's sacrifice bunt, took third on Kyndal Moyer's groundout, and scored on Waid's second hit of the night. Nikki Schneider set Southeastern down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the second.

The third inning proved to be the turning point in the game. Ouachita put runners at first and third with nobody out in the top of the frame but was unable to score. Two doubles and a home run put the Savage Storm on top for good.

Southeastern scored a run in the fourth, one in the fifth, and three in the sixth to extend the lead as the Tigers went down in order in each of those innings.

Kellen Church led off the top of the seventh with a pinch-hit single. Brown's second hit of the game put runners at first and second with two out, but they would end the game there.
