WOMEN'S SOCCER SET FOR GAC TOURNAMENT

ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita Baptist University women's soccer team will be competing in the 2022 Great American Conference Championship Tournament November 3-5 in Weatherford, Oklahoma.

The Tigers finished the regular season at 9-4-5 overall and 6-1-5 in GAC games, good enough for second place in the league. Ouachita finished just one win behind regular season champion Southwestern Oklahoma State for the right to host the conference tournament.

This season marked the fourth consecutive winning season for the Tigers and eighth season under head coach Kevin Wright to finish in the top three of the GAC.

The GAC tournament consists of the top four teams in the league, and will include three games. The semifinals games will be played on Thursday, November 3. The championship game will be played on Saturday, November 5. All three games will be played at the SWOSU Athletic Complex in Weatherford.

Ouachita, the No. 2 seed, opens up with No. 3 seed Oklahoma Baptist on Thursday at 11 a.m. The Bison are the only team to beat Ouachita in conference play this season, a 5-3 final in Arkadelphia. The two squads battled to a scoreless draw when they met in Shawnee.

The other semifinal matchup pits No. 1 seed SWOSU against No. 4 seed Northwestern Oklahoma State. The two winners meet in the championship game on Saturday at 11 a.m. Unlike the regular season, NCAA postseason games will be played until a winner is determined. There will be a maximum of two 10-minute overtime periods with no golden goal. The game will be decided by shootouts if a winner is not determined in the overtime periods.
