ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita Baptist University softball team opened up Great American Conference play with a 4-1 loss to Oklahoma Baptist at home on Sunday.
All of the runs came in the late innings as the game went scoreless in the first five frames. There were a combined five half innings of three up, and three down.
The Bison (9-5, 1-0 GAC) opened the scoring with two runs in the top of the sixth off of one hit and one Tiger error, and then added two more in the top of the seventh off of two hits and again one error.
Ouachita (4-10, 0-1 GAC) avoided being shut out by plating one run in the bottom of the seventh inning on an RBI single from
Jillian Jones.
Hope Waid and
Callie Jourdan each had two hits for the Tigers in addition to Jones' single and a triple by
Erin Williams to account for Ouachita's six hits in the loss.
The series wraps up on Monday with a double header starting at noon.
