WEATHERFORD, Oklahoma – The Ouachita Baptist University softball team wrapped up its two-week stretch of road games on Saturday with a 9-3 loss to Southwestern Oklahoma State.
SWOSU (5-16, 4-10 GAC) takes the series over Ouachita (8-19, 4-10 GAC) after splitting a double header on Friday.
In Saturday's game, the Bulldogs went up early with four runs in the second inning after Ouachita broke the scoreless tie in the top of the inning on an RBI double by Lacy Ornelas. The Tigers made it a one-run game with two runs across in the fifth, highlighted by an RBI double by Lauren Lester.
SWOSU responded with two runs in the bottom of the fifth and another three runs in the sixth to finalize the scoring.
Ouachita outhit SWOSU 10-8 in the game, but the Tigers committed four defensive errors, which ended up being the difference with the Bulldogs only scoring three earned runs in the game.
Heather Brown, Madison Miller, and Tally Turnbow all had two hits in the loss.
The Tigers are back at home for their next five games, including a non-conference double header against Delta State on Wednesday and a three-game GAC series against Northwestern Oklahoma State next weekend.
