ARKADELPHIA – A five-run fourth inning proved to be the difference in Saturday's series finale between the Ouachita Baptist University softball team and Northwestern Oklahoma State as the Rangers earned a 9-4 win to avoid being swept.
Ouachita won both games of Friday's double header, 4-3 and 10-7, to earn the team's second series win of the year. With Saturday's loss, Ouachita drops to 10-20 overall and 6-11 in Great American Conference games. NWOSU improves to 12-16 and 6-11 in the GAC.
After NWOSU took a lead in the top of the first on back-to-back doubles, the Tigers went up 2-1 in the bottom of the inning on a two-run single by
Madison Miller.
The Rangers regained the lead on back-to-back solo homeruns in the top of the second, and then used six hits and one Tiger error to plate five runs in the fourth.
Ouachita answered in the fifth on a solo homerun by
Jillian Jones, her third of the season.
Lacy Ornelas finalized Ouachita's scoring with an RBI groundout in the sixth.
Jones and
Kyndal Moyer both ended with two-hit games. Jones was 2-for-2. Moyer was 2-for-3.
