TIGERS EARN BIG WIN IN TECH SERIES FINALE

RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas – The Ouachita Baptist University baseball team avoided being swept by Arkansas Tech with an offensive onslaught in a 12-3 win in the series finale on Saturday. Tech (18-12 11-10 GAC) won the first game of Saturday's double header by a score of 5-2 to win the series two games to one.

The Tigers (19-13, 13-8 GAC) combined for 24 hits in Saturday's double header, 11 in the first game and 13 in the second game. Ouachita left 12 runners on base in the first game, and only scored in the first inning on a two-run double by Jud Arrington.

Other offensive leaders in the first game included G. Allen, Dustin Bermudez, and Noah Bachman, all finishing with two hits.

In the second game of the day, Ouachita scored more runs in the first inning than it had combined in the first two games of the series. The Tigers plated four runs in the first inning off four hits, highlighted by a two-run homerun by Bermudez, his second homerun of the season.

Ouachita put up crooked numbers in two others innings in the win, putting four more across in the fourth and three in the fifth.

Tallon Heine and Bermudez each posted three hits in the win. Allen and Bachman had two hits. Allen, Bachman, Jaxon Chaney, and Wyatt Core all posted two RBI.

Beau Burson finished one inning shy of a quality start, giving up just one earned run on five hits in the first five innings. He earned the win to move to 4-2 on the season. Hunter Gautreaux and Carter Wade combined for two innings of perfect pitching to close out the series.

The Tigers are back in action on Tuesday at home in a non-conference double header against Williams Baptist starting at 1 p.m. at Rab Rodgers Field.
