ADA, Oklahoma – The Ouachita Baptist University softball team secured its fourth Great American Conference series victory of the season on Friday by winning both games of a double header at East Central by scores of 3-1 and 9-8 in 11 innings.
Madison Miller (9-10) threw a combined 13.1 innings in the circle in the double header sweep, going the distance in the first game for a complete-game victory and then coming from the field to the circle in the second game for the final 6.1 innings. She combined to surrender just one earned run in both games, while striking out eight and walking just three.
Erin Williams was the hero of the first game, as all three of Ouachita's runs came on one swing, a three-run homerun in the top of the sixth inning. It was her first career homerun.
In the second game, the purple-and-white Tigers (16-26, 12-17 GAC) took advantage of eight errors committed by the orange-and-black Tigers (12-28, 10-19 GAC), two of which in the second inning resulting in four Ouachita runs.
After heading to extra innings, both teams plated three runs in the eighth innings to keep the game going.
Ouachita scored the final run of the game in the top of the 11th, again off an ECU error.
The Tigers go for the sweep on Saturday with game three starting at noon.
