ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita Baptist University softball team crossed the street on Tuesday to finish a three-game series against Henderson State with the Reddies coming away with a 5-2 win. Ouachita won the first two games of the series on March 8 at home.
In Tuesday's game, the Reddies (11-29, 8-13 GAC) scored five unanswered to earn the win after Ouachita (10-24, 6-15 GAC) held an early 2-0 lead on a pair of sacrifice flies.
Jillian Jones drove in the first run in the top of the first. Callie Jourdan had the second in the third inning. Hope Waid was the scoring runner both times.
The Reddies rallied to tie the game with a solo homerun in the fourth and a double-steal in the fifth. HSU took advantage of a Tiger error to score three runs in the bottom of the sixth. Jessalyn Ahrens and Hope Waid each singled to start the seventh inning, but HSU pitcher Savannah Carrigan forced three straight outs to seal the win.
Ouachita outhit the Reddies 8-6, with Waid leading the way with a 3-for-4 performance. Heather Brown also posted a multi-hit game, going 2-for-4.
The Tigers are back in action this Friday and Saturday on the road against Arkansas-Monticello in a three-game GAC series.
