MONTICELLO, Arkansas – The Ouachita Baptist University softball team opened up its weekend road series against Arkansas-Monticello on Friday with a 4-2 victory at Alvy Early Field.
With the exception of one pitch in the fourth inning resulting in a two-run homerun for UAM (16-22, 10-11 GAC), Ouachita pitcher
Madison Miller threw a gem with only two runs allowed on seven hits with seven strikeouts in her complete-game victory. It was her 11th complete game of the season.
The Tigers (11-24, 7-15 GAC) scored in the first an RBI groundout by
Callie Jourdan, and added three in the fourth, highlighted by RBI singles from
Hope Waid and
Lacy Ornelas.
Waid finished the day 3-for-4 at the plate.
Lauren Lester went 2-for-3.
Games two and three of the series are set for Saturday in Monticello starting at noon.
