THOMAS, SNOW HONORED BY GAC

RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas – The Great American Conference has selected Ouachita women's soccer defender Amerie Thomas and goalkeeper Michele Snow as two of the league's players of the week.

Thomas and Snow lead the best defense in the GAC this season with nine shutouts and an average of less than a half a goal allowed per game. This past week was no different as the Tigers posted a scoreless draw on the road against Northwestern Oklahoma State and a 1-0 win over Southwestern Oklahoma State at home.

Thomas played in all but six minutes of those two games, helping Ouachita hold the Rangers scoreless on 18 total shots and then holding the Bulldogs without a goal on eight total shots. The games marked the fourth and fifth consecutive shutouts for the Tiger defense.

Snow recorded a season-high 10 saves in the road draw against NWOSU and added another three in the win over SWOSU. She now has 25 shutouts for her career.

This is Thomas' first player of the week honor this season and second of her career. For Snow, this is her fourth keeper of the week honor this season and 11th of her career. The Tigers have now been awarded 12 player of the week honors this season.

The Tigers are 8-1-6 overall this season and 5-1-3 in GAC games, currently holding a four-point lead for first place in the league standings with three games remaining in the regular season. Ouachita has already clinched a spot in the GAC tournament, which will be hosted by the regular season champion. The Tigers host Southern Nazarene on Wednesday at 3 p.m. and then welcome Oklahoma Baptist to town on Saturday at 11 a.m.
