HOT SPRINGS, Arkansas – The Ouachita Baptist University baseball team moved to 3-0 on the season in games played at Majestic Park in Hot Springs with a pair of wins on Saturday, beating McKendree 10-2 and Lane College 9-2.
The Tigers (4-2) opened the season last week with a 7-6 win over Washburn at Majestic Park.
On Saturday, the bats were hot for the Tigers, who picked up their third and fourth consecutive games with at least 10 hits. In the win over McKendree (0-2), Ouachita pounded out a season-high 16 hits, including five for extra bases. Later in the night, the Tigers had 12 hits against Lane (0-6), including three for extra bases.
Wyatt Core had a big day for the Tigers, accounting for 25 percent of the team's combined hits in the two victories. Core started with a 5-for-5 outing against McKendree, and then went 2-for-3 against Lane to give him a .636 batting average and a 1.542 OPS through the first six games of the year.
Jaxon Chaney also performed well against McKendree, going 4-for-5, highlighted by a three-run homerun as a part of Ouachita's four-run fifth inning.
Teddy Webb (1-0) earned his first win as a Tiger in the team's victory over McKendree. Webb allowed just one run off three hits with five strikeouts in the first six innings. Relievers

Andrew Cox combined to face only two batters over the minimum in the final three innings.
In the nightcap, Core,
G. Allen, and
Isaac Nowell led the Tigers offense with two hits each. Nowell hit his first homerun of the season with a solo shot to left in the third inning.
Pitching was again a highlight of the night, with only two unearned runs surrendered to the Dragons.
Hayden Childers (2-0) earned the win after giving up just one unearned run off three hits with six strikeouts in the first five innings.
Bryce Smith,
Jacob Bowman, and
Jonathan Weiss combined to hold the Dragons to just one unearned run.
