ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita Baptist University softball team dropped both of its games today in the McGhee-Hawkins Invitational at Sully Anderson Field.
The Tigers fell in the first game to Northeastern State by a score of 8-4 and then fell to Missouri Southern State 15-2 in six innings.
Game One vs Northeastern State:
The Tigers struck first as a sac fly from
Reagann Harper scored
Heather Brown in the first inning. Ouachita added to its lead with a home run from
Lacy Ornelas to make it 2-0 Tigers. Northeastern answered and took the lead on a pair of homers in the fourth and then fifth inning to give the Riverhawks a 5-2 advantage. Ouachita plated another run to make it just a 5-3 game, but a seventh inning homer from NSU put the game out of reach and the Tigers fell 8-4.
Jessalyn Ahrens went 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored. Four Tigers recorded RBI in the game.
Lacy Ornelas recorded her first home run of the season.
Game Two vs Missouri Southern State:
MSSU struck first in the Tigers' second game of the day. Ouachita struck back and tied the game on
Lacy Ornelas' second home run of the day to make the score 1-1. The Lions once again took a one-run lead in the fourth, but the Tigers answered right back with
Lauren Lester scoring on an error on a ball hit by Ornelas to make the score 2-2. The Lions went on the score 13 runs in the fifth and six innings to seal the game for MSSU.
Lacy Ornelas hit her second home run of the season and day, and recorded both RBI in the game.
The Tigers will look to bounce back next weekend as they take on Williams Baptist University in a double header Saturday, February 11 at Sully Anderson Field
